Corridor Management

About the CDC Department

Through its partnerships with Wells Fargo Bank, Home Depot, Gift in Kind International and other corporate sponsors, ACANA engages in projects to rehabilitate and restore abandoned, dilapidated or blighted buildings in and around the Chester Avenue corridor, and collaborates with other community partners to ensure that Chester Avenue is a thriving and inviting place to live and work. As part of these efforts, ACANA also has a corridor cleaning program sponsored by the Commerce Department of the City of Philadelphia, where it cleans and beautifies the four block surrounding stretch of Chester Avenue.

Additionally, ACANA is engaged in a corridor development program intended on improving businesses in the Southwest Philadelphia. This program targets three main corridors: Elmwood Avenue, Woodland Avenue and Chester Avenue, and connects small business owners with information and resources that can help grow and improve their businesses and the corridor in general. Sponsored by the Commerce Department of the City of Philadelphia, participating businesses can gain access to resources for storefront improvement, grants and loans, and other vital business enhancement information.

As part of the community development department, ACANA provides two main services: providing resources to needy community residents regardless of background, and engaging in projects or activities that can aid in the vitalization of Chester Avenue.

Corridor Cleaning

Keeping the corridor clean is our outermost joy. This allow businesses to attract customers and be comfortable in doing their everyday business. We are part of the list of locations by the City of Philadelphia for the corridor cleaning.
